I met Shabir on July 13th, 2013 and I instantly knew that I liked him. While most relatively fit people are intimidated by CrossFit, all 450 pounds of Shabir showed up to the intro class with a smile on his face. In the five weeks that have transpired since our meeting, CrossFit South Bay has agreed to sponsor him with a gym membership and I taken the reigns as his personal trainer and nutritional coach. Over the next 12 months, we’ll document his tranformation and share it with you…
Shabir seen here that fateful Saturday towering over the other ballerz!
Shabir currently weighs 437 pounds and it is his goal to weigh 200. With 237 pounds to lose and 52 weeks to do so, he needs to pare down 4.6 pounds each week. He started his journey at 560 pounds and has been losing 2-3 pounds per week consistently. I believe, that under my tutilege, we can hit his goal within one year.
I’ve been packing on the pounds for the past month and weighed in at 216.2 pounds this morning, which is as heavy as I’ve ever been. We’re going to kick the project off with a race to lose 20 pounds. We are betting a gentlemanly $20 and if I hit 196.2 before he hits 417, the $40 will be mine!
I could tell you stories about how much fun I had gaining weight, but it really wasn’t all that fun. Aside from gassy episodes and my stomach hating me, my thighs now rub together, my butt jiggles when I brush my teeth, and my back muscles are tightening with even a meager pouch of a belly. I’m ready to turn this train around and I’ll document exactly how I do it.
That’s all for now. Except one thing. I just want to say that I now have a subscriber in Jesenice, Slovenia. I looked it up and the place looks like this:
I just thought that was cool, so I wanted to share.
Keep up the good work, keep smiling, keep it real and “Keep It Paleo!”
PS: GO SHABIR!
