Happy New Year 2016! Time Is A Gift

Happy New Year, Guys!!!

I recorded the above video 3.9 days into a 4 day shoot when the power had just gone out. We scrounged together enough light to continue shooting, but, needless to say, my tone doesn’t purvey my excitement for 2016. However, my words accomplish three things…

  1. THEY RECONNECT ME WITH YOU! 2015 was a difficult year from a website standpoint. While we knocked out 50 meal plans and posted over 80 recipes, content was not as fresh as I wanted and posts were few and far between. Today is a big day in that we start anew. The goal is 250 posts over the next year with 2 videos, a meal plan, a note on nutrition and a fitness discussion each week. I’ve compiled a team in order to make this happen and we’re ready to rock!
  2. THEY DISCUSS ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF 2015. In the past I’ve done a full article on the accomplishments of the year, but not today. I’ve given a list of goals for the coming year, but not now. So many things happened in 2015 that I would outdo “War And Peace” by even chronicling the first few months. The biggest projects of the year were serving 20,000 meals in one week at The CrossFit Games and the official launch of Ice Age Meals. In preparation for these, we founded the Paleo Test Kitchen, which gives us a commercial production facility as well as a studio for shooting videos for the site. There was tons of travel, friendships made and lost, camping trips with the fam and dancing in a subway station in London (see below). It is fair to say that 2015 was the most eventful, challenging and rewarding year of my life.
  3. THEY LOOK TO THE FUTURE. As you know, 2016 starts today. If I could convey to you the magnitude and meaning of the months ahead, I would. We’ve got a new spice line coming out, new packaging for Ice Age Meals, continued Culinary Adventures, radical recipes like you’ve never seen, and endless encouragement to help you become the person you aspire to be. While business is important to keep the boat afloat, it is the human connection that inspires me. It is my goal to connect with you on a level that positively impacts your life within the next 364.25 days! Please come along as we forge into the future together…

While we’ve discussed the past, the future and human connection, I want to close this entry by discussing the present…

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400.00. You can carry over no balance from day to day. Every night at midnight, the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do? You’d want to make the most of each day’s deposit, wouldn’t you? Perhaps you’d withdraw all of the money, every day?

Each of us has such a bank. It’s name is TIME. Every day, we are given 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off whatever of this you failed to invest for a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day, it opens a new account for you. Each night, it burns the remains of the day.

If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against “tomorrow”. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest your time wisely. The clock is running, what will you do?

I could write to you about new year’s resolutions, a long list of “to do’s”, how you need eat better and lift heavier, but you’ve heard all of that. I want to encourage you today to make the most of every moment.

If someone asks you where you are, you say, “I’m right here.”

If someone asks you what time it is, you say, “It’s right now.”

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present!

Our account has been credited. Let’s draw as much from it as possible. And, if we can draw any of that time together, consider it’s value doubled!

Welcome to 2016, guys!

Your Pal,

Paleo Nick
