This week's tester is Jeanne Somers from Wausau, WI. Jeanne resides in a household with her husband/chef Anthony, her picky eating teenage daughter Sabrina, and her in-laws, Jean and Jim Winters. Jeanne works for a window company in Wausau. When she's not working, she enjoys CrossFit, cooking, reading, family time and road trips. 

Jeanne admits to being a CrossFit addict along with Anthony and Sabrina. They are members of CrossFit Bull Falls in Wisconsin. Jeanne and Anthony do daily WOD's while Sabrina trains in Olympic lifting.

"I found Paleo Nick using a google search when I started to learn about paleo eating. The site and the recipes are full of information and the blogs by people are fun and interesting.  I am a diabetic of 27 years (lost my pancreas in an accident and have to take daily insulin shots to survive).  I found out about a year ago that my cholesterol was high and so was my blood pressure and the first thing the doctor did was put me on more medication.  This did not make me happy so I went in search of a way to get off the medication and found CrossFit which lead to Paleo eating.  I could tell you that I have lost a lot of weight but I think it is more important to say that I am on track to getting healthy and I take ½ the insulin I took when I started this journey.  (My last A1C was 7.2 – down from the 11.3 I started at).  I no longer take any cholesterol medication and while I need to take the blood pressure medication for my liver I only take ½ of what I was taking a year ago.  I am the healthiest I have ever been and am on track to continue to get healthy along with getting some muscles in the deal," Jeanne shared.

Thank you Jeanne for being an inspiration both in the kitchen and real life. Being the change when challenged with medical situations in your life is so impressive and hard to do for many. You are using your knowledge of fitness and fueling your body in a healthy way to avoid having to only use medications to curb your diabetes, all while shaping great looking muscles. Keep at it women! Maybe your mother-in-law will give Paleo more of a chance if you keep making these amazing meals.
